This fairly unknown sight, also named Coban Sewu is not on the usual Java Route so you will probably be one of the few people here. With its 120 meters, it is in the list of one of the highest waterfalls in Indonesia. You have the option to admire the waterfall from the top and the foot. Visiting the foot of the Tumpak Sewu waterfall is a must-do experience. Although you can’t swim at the foot, it is incredible to feel all that water force on the ground. Hiking to tumpak sewu base area takes about 30-40minutes walk down via bambo stairs passing some small streams; and recommended using sandals (not flip-flop). It is not dangerous, but you have to take care of your steps. Once reached ground base area, walk another 5minutes pass small bridge on top of the river to reach tumpak sewu.
Once you reached the base of tumpak sewu, embrace the nature power and welcome to the best waterfall in Indonesia!
On less-rush day, we highly recommend you to walk further following the river path to reach Goa Tetes Waterfall. This is the dessert of great main course of tumpak sewu. You will walk along caves with dripping waters. You might be able to dip in your body in some caves with big pond.
Expect to spend 3-4 hours to explore both waterfalls : Tumpak Sewu and Goa Tetes.
